Star Gazer
The origin of the word, “gazer,“ was first recorded in 1350–1400 from Middle English, gasen; also from Norwegian and Swedish (dialect) gasa “to look.”
But I am sure that humans, and others, looked into the dark night sky long before a word was initiated for such an activity. Can you imagine, without artificial lights to obstruct, what the blackness looked like and how bright the faintest specks were?
What did they understand without knowing what we (think) we know?
